Messengers Interview

Messengers 2

In this video, we did an interview of each individual give or take few. We wanted to show how the whole team works, collaborates, and who's in charge of what job for the film. I am the director of the new film Messengers 2, in this film we explore new types of camera work. I have worked very hard to piece the script together for this storyline. In the last messengers we produced and released to the world, we choreographed our first fight scene, overlapped our first audio between the tv and actors...which turned out wonderful. We left the first film off with an extreme cliff hanger not planning on making a sequel...but we decided that we wanted to step up the game and release an even better film than the first. the new messengers is full of new changes and upgrades. Some of the biggest changes we've made would have to be the hunters voice and overall design, we decided after the first one he sounded not menacing enough so that led us to put a voice filter over hiss helmet making him sound so much darker and dangerous. Another great upgrade we've gotten for this film was hiring a 3rd degree black belt Christian Tathum, this was one of our best decisions because he really brings the fights to life and makes them look more striking and overall tough. One of our last changes we've done and the most exciting one is the costume changes, we have worked really hard to find our own designs for the messengers. In the first film our characters griffin and easton wore simple clothing with the harness attached, this also included gloves and bandage wraps to add effect. We wanted to bring the characters out more and get more of  heroic feel, with a our own touch of design to it.

Short

The Robbery

This was just a side project a classmate and i did during our spare time. the process for this video was very simple, i took many different shots of fighting the best i could without trained choreographers. The simple and easy little fight i created wasn't enough so i added in an introduction. If anything would be changed it would be the actors who did the fight due to the lack of experience. I would spend a lot more time perfecting each punch and sound effect. The very first punch turned out beautiful and is an example of me actually taking my time and using the right angles.

Escaped

SCOPE:
The main idea of this project was to successfully complete a 5 min max short film consisting of 3 key items. The 3 items consisted of any type of water-bottle, a hat of any sort, and also a phrase consisting of the words "lights out". All around this project flowed very well and i personally enjoyed it so much. The process of this project for my group turned out with the final product finishing very well.

PROCESS

Pre-production:

Our groups were selected by our teacher and each group was designated a director, luckily i got the director role. The directors were then give the free will to choose their own groups and team to work with. I chose a group consisting of 3 very smart and bright girls, they all put very good work into the film. We all began the film with brainstorming and came up with an idea, unfortunately that idea was too complex for a 5 min short film and wouldn't make much sense. so we continued to brainstorm now behind on time, we came up with a great idea which is now put to screen. We slowly priced together our well thought out script and storyboard full of intense dialogue and camera angles.

Production:

After all pep reduction was completed we went out on the field to get some work done. Ernie Miller nature center was our first choice for a good looking forest and ended up being our final location to film on. we Filmed for an entire day and got a lot completed, some struggles and problems did occur but we worked well through it and finished the film day with some good footage. After that we came back to our editing stations

Post production:

Editing became a very big problem and we had a lot to fix and master. I ended up having to use 3 different SD cards to transfer video clips. Working very hard on editing i came out with this finished product and i was very happy with it, some audio errors were on my nerves due to audio not working while filming and consisting of many voice overs. Overall this was the best team i have worked with all year.

WHAT I LEARNED

Technically:

I learned a lot of very valuable information about angles and audio this year that i think i did very well on. I also learned how to use the new cameras and voice over equipment, next goal lighting.

Professionally:

Honestly i think i pulled off being a director very well. I feel like I'm very capable of the task and i react well in stressful situations and editing with not very good audio. Leadership is for sure one of my strong suits cause i am a decent speaker and know when do bbs serious also when to joke. Next year i plan on being involved with many other short films and creating just fun and entertaining film for people to just enjoy.

COMMENTARY

This short film was the best thing i ever done besides my previous work with ally harper on the video Trapped. something i could've done better on this video was working with audio and casting better actors. No i am not self centered and wanted to make myself the leader on purpose , we really had no choice and all our great actors from trapped bailed on us for other groups. No hatred on them they are fannaminal actors Lucas Scott, and Grace Horvat. I was very happy with my final product and wouldn't be happier. Also couldn't ask for a better teacher gonna miss you mrs Meyer.

Supplement

i learned so much about package design during this project and how to make a carton design. the hardest thing about this project was figuring a design i could use to respesent the look and design of what need to stand out on the box. i went with green cause it has a medicine kind of feel and i put red to represent the lungs for like health wise. i enjoyed this project a ton because it tapped into my imagination. My product is quick repair, this supplement is designed for smokers who have destroyed their lungs over time by smoking so i created this to help speed up the process of the lungs alloys being repaired and can cut down the process of healing by half the time of normal healing. I enjoyed making the color scheme and the design of the box and making it look very complex but simple at the same time.

Batman Poster

Process:
The process of my movie poster was very difficult to think of because it took a lot of time trying to incorporate a simple idea of batman rising into a simple poster. We based our classes ideas off of Saul bass, a very famous Graphic designer. i used many different ways of using the bat symbol in the poster, the way i picked in the poster above best suits the main idea of the movie by showing the symbol rising over the city.

Challenges:
This project brought me some challenges throughout making it. One of my biggest challenges was the text, i wanted to get a text that showed how the city was in destruction without actually showing a destroyed city. Making the text i continued to run into problems with making it stand out and actually look good with the rest of the poster. I finally found the best way to make the text stand out and still fit with the colors by using an inner glow for the text which brought a very cool affect.

Reflection:
I enjoyed this project a lot because i took one of my favorite superhero movies and got to transform it into a original classic looking poster. This project got me to appreciate the idea of sail basses work by showing me the complexity that is hidden behind the simple poster. This was by far one of my most favorite projects i have done this year.http://www.saulbassposterarchive.com
